Quick Summary: PlateInsight provides vehicle history reports using UK Government data on a pay-as-you-go credit system. Reports are for personal use only. Credits never expire and are non-refundable except where required by law.
1. Agreement to Terms
By using PlateInsight, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.

2. Service Description
PlateInsight provides vehicle history reports and analysis for UK-registered vehicles using data from official UK Government sources, including the DVLA and DVSA, alongside trusted third-party vehicle data providers.
Our Service Includes:
- Vehicle search by registration number
- Complete MOT history and test results
- PlateInsight Health Score (0–100)
- Market comparison and mileage analysis
- AI-powered vehicle analysis and photo inspection
- Red flags and advisory warnings
- Tax and insurance status
- V5C vehicle data
- Vehicle Explorer — compare any make/model against real reliability data
3. Eligibility
To use PlateInsight, you must:
- Be at least 16 years old
- Have legal capacity to enter into binding contracts
- Provide accurate registration information
- Comply with all applicable laws
4. Credits and Purchases
4.1 Credit System
1 credit = 1 vehicle report
Credits purchased via Apple In-App Purchase
Credits never expire
4.2 Pricing
Current credit packages:
- 10 credits — £2.99
- 25 credits — £5.99
- 50 credits — £9.99
Prices include VAT and are subject to change with reasonable notice.
4.3 Refund Policy
Credits are non-refundable except:
- When required by law
- Technical error preventing report generation
- Duplicate charges (refunded automatically)
To request a refund: Email support@plateinsight.co.uk within 14 days with your transaction ID.
4.4 Credit Usage
Credits are used when:
- You unlock a full vehicle report for the first time
Credits are NOT used when:
- Re-viewing a vehicle you've already checked
- Viewing vehicles in your History
- Browsing your Garage
- Using Vehicle Explorer
5. Acceptable Use
5.1 Permitted Use
You may use PlateInsight to:
- Check vehicles you own or are considering purchasing
- Save vehicles to your Garage (maximum 10)
- Export and share reports via provided functionality
- Compare vehicles using Vehicle Explorer
5.2 Prohibited Use
You may NOT:
- Resell or redistribute reports commercially
- Use automated systems, bots, or scrapers
- Reverse engineer the app
- Use for commercial vehicle dealing without permission
- Violate UK data protection laws
- Create multiple accounts to obtain free credits
Violation may result in immediate account termination and legal action.
6. Data Accuracy and Limitations
6.1 Data Sources
Our data comes from official UK Government sources (DVLA/DVSA), alongside trusted third-party vehicle data providers. However:
We do NOT guarantee:
- 100% accuracy (data sourced from third parties)
- Real-time updates (typically within 24 hours)
- Completeness of historical records
6.2 Your Responsibility
You are responsible for:
- Verifying critical information independently
- Conducting professional vehicle inspections
- Checking with DVLA/DVSA directly for legal matters
- Making your own purchase decisions
6.3 Not a Substitute For
PlateInsight is NOT a substitute for:
- Professional vehicle inspection
- Legal advice
- Financial advice
- Official DVLA/DVSA records
7. Liability and Disclaimers
7.1 "AS IS" Service
PlateInsight is provided "AS IS" without warranties of merchantability, fitness for purpose, or uninterrupted service.
7.2 Limitation of Liability
We are NOT liable for:
- Inaccurate data (sourced from third parties)
- Vehicle purchase decisions
- Technical errors or app downtime
- Loss of profits or data
Maximum liability: Amount paid for credits in last 12 months (max £100)
7.3 UK Consumer Rights
Your statutory rights are protected: Nothing in these Terms affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or Digital Content Regulations 2015.
8. Account Termination
8.1 Termination by You
You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Account → Delete Account.
Upon deletion:
- Account permanently closed
- Unused credits forfeited (non-refundable)
- Personal data deleted per Privacy Policy
- Purchase records retained 7 years (UK tax law)
8.2 Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your account for:
- Violation of these Terms
- Fraudulent activity
- Abusive behaviour
- Legal requirements
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via:
- In-app notification
- Email notification
- Updated "Effective Date"
Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
